Intro

Hey guys. My name is Mike and i’m a 21 year old gay man living in Richmond, Va. I go to college and i’m studying Political Science and International Relations with a minor in French and Religious Studies. About 3 years ago, I had the Gastric Bypass surgery where they essentially staple a little stomach pouch, cut it from your other stomach (so I think I qualify as a human cow because I have two stomachs…moo), then reroute your intestine to that pouch. The idea is to not eat as much and it can become physically painful if you eat too much. I lost 80 lbs from 320 to 240.

Well…3 years later and i’ve put the weight back on (at least 80% of all Gastric Bypass patients do). While I am not criticising the gastric bypass community, I think that the surgery doesn’t work that much because I am very much of the belief that our food tastes is something learned. If you grow up eating fast food, you will enjoy fast food a lot when you have the economic ability to purchase such food. Thus, obesity in the US. Hearing that John and Andy were getting a blog together to monitor their weight loss, I wanted to join them in this effort since every successful weight loss endeavor needs a strong support base.

 So…yeah…that’s about it
